Jimmy Ellis, 79, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Tupelo Nursing Home. He was born June 23, 1937, in Lee County to Bashaw and Olga Mae Ellis. Jimmy was a retired electrician and enjoyed sports and gardening. He had a prolific basketball career at Belden High School, Itawamba Junior College, and Delta State University.
He is survived by two sons, Neal Ellis (Amy) and Shawn Ellis, both of Mantachie; a daughter, Natalie Bean (Dennis) of Little Rock, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Trey Ellis (Lori Beth), Trent Ellis, Luke Ellis, Levi Ellis, Ty Bean, Olivia Bean, and Ellis Bean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie. Private burial will be in Stephens Cemetery.
