Jimmy Edwards, 80, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, December 7.
Jimmy was born in Newell, AL to Grady and Ina Lou Edwards. He attended Woodland High School where he met his wife, Linda Mathews. They were married for 59 years.
Jimmy served in the US Air Force and rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant before retiring after 26 years of service. After relocating to Huntsville, Jimmy stayed busy working as a substitute teacher in the Huntsville City Schools. After a Parkinson’s diagnosis, he enjoyed attending the Rock Steady boxing program. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; sons, Mike Edwards (Jackie) of Centennial, CO, and Steve Edwards (Donna) of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Ben Edwards (Jessica) of Salt Lake City, UT, Madeleine Edwards and partner Alex Colombo of Castle Rock, CO, Matt Edwards and partner Elwood Dobson of Knoxville, TN, and Morgan Edwards and partner Morgan Nix of Chattanooga, TN.
The family will receive visitors to celebrate his life from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 10 at their home.
