Jimmy Earl Haynes, 77, lifelong resident of Tippah County, departed this world and entered into his Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Tippah County Hospital.

Funeral Service honoring the life of Mr. Jimmy will be at 2 PM Sunday January 12, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with his minister, Bro. Jack Bennett, and longtime friend, Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service on Sunday January 12, 2025, at the Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born August 5, 1947, in Tippah County, Mr. Jimmy was the son of the late John Wilson and Ruby Hatcher Haynes. He received his education from Center School, before graduating from Pine Grove High School. A working man, Mr. Jimmy served the Ripley Community well for nearly forty years, as he was owner and operator of Haynes Service Station. Located right on the side of Hwy 15, he spent many days pumping folks’ gas, working on people’s vehicles, and offering help to anyone he could, while always wearing a big smile. In 1969 he married his beloved wife, Mrs. Rose Luna Haynes, who survives, and together they shared forty-five years raising a beautiful family, working hard for the life they built, and being faithfully devoted to one another.

A Christian and member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Mr. Jimmy had a great passion for the outdoors, as he found spiritual strength and comfort being in all of God’s creation. In earlier years he enjoyed cattle farming and was a great steward of the land, for he made certain each year to work a garden and produce many vegetables which he would often share with family and friends. His unwavering dedication to the sport of hunting was clear to see, as he never missed his opportunity to spend a night running dogs and chasing coons, riding his side by side through the woods while rabbit hunting, or being on the banks of pond, while enjoying the afternoon fishing. Beyond his hunting pursuits, Mr. Jimmy’s greatest accomplishment was his family. They rang above all, for he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved most, especially his grandchildren, which he was so proud of.

Mr. Jimmy certainly knew the true riches in life, as he lived it for his wife, children, and grandchildren, steadfastly served his community well, and never lost sight in all of the wonderful things his Lord and Savior provided to him. His memory will always live on in the laughter he shared, valuable lessons he taught, the love he gave, and countless lives he touched. We a forever blessed and consider ourselves lucky to have had such a dedicated husband, caring father and grandfather, and true friend.

In addition to his wife, Mrs. Rose, those left to cherish his memories include two children, Bruce Haynes (Suzette), and Ginger Smith (Ben), a son in law, Berkley Downs, seven grandchildren, Colton Haynes, Kaylee Caviness (Ryan), Collin Smith (Callie), Moriah Smith, Claira Smith, Evan Smith, and Becca Downs, one great grandchild, Mila Kennedy Smith, and two brothers, Eddie Haynes, and John Haynes (Mary).

He is also preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Downs, two sisters, Mary V Everett, and Mary Ruth Myers, and one brother, Curtis Haynes.
