Jimmy “Duke” Williams, 76, of Rogersville, died Saturday, May 23, 2015, at ECM Hospital. He was a member of Rogersville Church of Christ and retired from Reynolds and the City of Rogersville. In earlier years, Duke was a member of the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department and a coach of youth league baseball, football and basketball.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Rogersville Church of Christ. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at the church with Wendell Gann and Alex Bayes officiating. Burial will follow in Civitan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Stovall, Phillip Hooie, Jeff Thompson, Kenny McKinney, Zachary Phillips and Steve Darracott, and honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Beavers, Randall Tucker, Larry Jones, David Patterson, Wayne Lentz and Gerald Reeves.
Duke was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Willese Simmons Williams; brothers, Thomas and David Williams; and sister, Patsy Williams. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Williams; children, Johnny (Cynthia) Williams and Pam (Alan) Humphries; daughter by heart, Cassie Newman; grandchildren, Angela (Zach) Phillips, Seth Humphries, Erica Williams and Jacob Williams; great-grandchildren, Whitlee Phillips and Jaxen Phillips and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
