A Celebration of Life service for Jimmy Donald Monroe, 81 of Corinth, MS will be Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home – South with Military Honors. Interment will follow at Old Danville Cemetery. Dr. Ronald Mitchell will officiate the service. Visitation will be Friday, July 16, 2021 from 11:00 A M until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home – South. Mr. Monroe passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at his residence. He retired as a correction officer with MS State Department of Correction after 30 years of service. He served his country in the U S Navy and the MS National Guard. He was an active member of South Corinth Baptist Church. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joan Talley Monroe; his daughter, Carolyn Monroe McDowell and husband Garry of Corinth, MS; 4 grandchildren, Blake McDowell, Nick Monroe, Landon Monroe, Kristin Farrar (Derek); great granddaughter, Macy Farrar; his sister, Jeanette Wilburn of Slayden, MS; special family members, Bonnie Lancaster, Bubba McNeese and family and Baillie and Marshall Cook; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Donald Monroe, Jr.; his father, Henry Monroe; his mother, Julie Smith Monroe; his brother; Harold Monroe (Jonell); his sisters, Doris Miller (Gene), Martha Haney (Charles) and Peggy Day (Jerry); the wife and mother of his children, June Sitton Monroe. Pallbearers will be Zack Winters, Russ Clifton, Nick Monroe, Landon Monroe, Derek Farrar, Bubba McNeese, Blake McDowell and Marshall Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Ashleigh Winters, Katilyn Houston and Madison Houston. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Jimmy Donald Monroe.
