Jimmy Don Haney, 79 of Decatur, Alabama, died Sunday, December 1, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Haney was born June 7, 1945 in Morgan County, Alabama, he was retired from Decatur Utilities Electric Department. He was a member of Decatur Elks Lodge #655, a avid Alabama Football Fan, he loved to fish, loved his Grandchildren and a longtime Tractor Pulling Fan with Haney Equipment.
Services will be 2pm Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Tim Haney officiating, burial in Limestone Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 12 noon until service
Pallbearers will be Ed Davidson, Joe McKelvy, Keith Drake, Clay Campbell, Phillip Drake and Leon Haney. Honorary Pallbearers are Rick Johnson, Tink Haney and Retirees from Decatur Utilities Electric Department.
Survivors: Wife, Shirley Abernathy Haney of Decatur. Daughter, Tracey Haney Flanagan (Mark) of Rogersville. Son, Alan Keith Haney of Decatur. Step-daughter, Traci McCown McKelvy (Joe) of Decatur. Brother, Eugene Haney of Athens. Sisters, Delle Haney Black of Athens and Joanne Haney Stewart of Athens. Grandchildren, Jacob McKelvy, Jaxon Haney, Luke McKelvy, Cameron Haney and John Mark Flanagan.
Preceded in death by: Parents, Ransom and Kathryn Haney. Son, Jimmy Don Haney Jr.. Brothers, Bobby Haney, Ronald Glen (Pookie) Haney and David Sidney Haney. Sister, Gwendolyn Stone.  
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
