Jimmy Dean Clemmons, Sr., 78, of Greenhill, AL, passed away September 1, 2012. He was a member of North Carolina Church of Christ. Jimmy, known as “Tip”, had a bad accident at childhood and was always considered the “Special Child”. He attended McGee School, Rogers High, and graduated from Florence State with a B. S. degree.

After graduation he was employed by Sears and Roebuck in Nashville, Tenn, where he met the love of his live, Trixie. They soon married, moved back to Greenhill, and began raising five children.

Jimmy retired from Sears after 35 years of service. During retirement, he enjoyed cattle farming, woodworking, antique auctions, and travel. He and Trixie enjoyed travel to Europe, Canada , and most of the states.

He was very proud of obtaining his CDL at the age of 63.

However, the greatest joy of his life was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Survivors include: Sons: Barry Clemmons and wife Lynn Jim Clemmons, Jr., and wife Rhonda Scott Clemmons and wife Mandy Daughters: Suzy Brown Emily Henry and husband Vaughn Brother: Harrison “Ike” Clemmons Grandchildren: Colt Clemmons; Brittany and Bailey Brown; Luke and Eli Henry; Avery, Chesney, and Whitley

Preceded in death by: Wife of 47 years: Trixie Clemmons Parents: Bradley and Gerdes Clemmons Grandson: Daniel Clemmons Sister: Josie Hamner

Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 2, from 5:00-8:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00am at North Carolina Church of Christ with Brian Smith officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 10:00-11:00am. Burial will be in North Carolina Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Damian Wahner, Cassidy Henson, Greg Hamner, Mark Hamner Sammy Seat, Leon Grigsby, Wayne Henson, and Dustin Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Killen, Jerry Reed Clemmons, and Horace Hamner.

The family would like to thank all of their friends and family for their visits and prayers during his illness.
