Jimmy Dale Black, born on January 11, 1948, passed from this life on November 1, 2024. Jimmy was a man whose spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him, He lived a life full of love, adventure, and made an impact on so many. Above all, Jimmy’s greatest love was for his wife, Sharon. Their bond of 57 years was a beautiful partnership built on love, respect, and shared adventures. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and warmth, a place where family gathered, and memories were made. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents (Virgil & Bedia Black) one brother (Phillip) he leaves behind one sister, Barbara (Mike) Cole, 3-brothers Robert (Pam) Jeff (Velvet) and Tracy (Brandy) one brother-in-law Ronnie Edwards and one Goddaughter Misty Knowis Rhinehart. Jimmy had several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who all called him “Uncle Jimmy.” Jimmy was a big sports fan and a huge Alabama Fan. “Roll Tide”.
Jimmy was a graduate of Rogers High School and Chicago Technical College. He retired from Renyolds Metal Company and was an amazing carpenter. Over the years he built many wonderful homes across North Alabama. His favorite hobby was American Quarter Horses, he and Sharon showed horses together for 40-years. They made so many dear friends along the way. They competed at the highest level with several appearances and placings in the AQHA World Show in Oklahoma City. They also had a 1998 Palomino World Champion. Jimmy also loved his dogs. From Dowdy, Spooky, Shenna and his beloved DD to Keshia and Kona, Jimmy loved them all.
As we remember Jimmy, let’s celebrate his zest for life and the joy he brought to all of us. Let’s remember all his stories and jokes that made everyone smile. His passion and love for the outdoors, and the warmth of his spirit. He may no longer walk among us, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

A graveside service to honor Jimmy will be held Tuesday, November 5th, at 11:00am in Greenview Memorial Park in Florence with Henry Melton officiating.
