Jimmie Ruth Wheeler, 93, of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away on January 26, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1931, in Madison County to the late James and Inez (Fowler) Locke.

Jimmie worked as a clerk for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office. After 35 years of service, she retired in 1992.

Jimmie was a gifted pianist who began playing at the age of 15. She shared her talent in a number of ways.  A large part of her playing was at Murphy Hill Baptist Church.  She found joy in camping with her family,  working in her yard, and was known for her exceptional cooking. An accomplished seamstress and crocheter, she created many handmade items that many family and friends enjoy to this day.

Jimmie is survived by her daughters: Lindy Wheeler, Ann (Mike) Wheeler Jerrell, and Robin (Tommy) Townson; her grandchildren: Stephen (Angela) Jerrell, Benjamin Howard Jerrell (Mike O’Brien), Michael (Jennifer) Jerrell, Whitney (Adam) Bailey, and Ty Townson (Andy Hopper); and her great-grandchildren: Noah Jerrell, Gabriel Jerrell, Bailey Jerrell, Briceton Wheeler Bailey, Caroline Bailey, Reed Bailey, and Harper Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wheeler, her parents, and her sister, Kathryn Locke Moorer.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Clay Cemetery in Princeton, Alabama.
