Jimmie Louise Andrews Newman of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024. She was 89.
Ms. Newman was born on August 14, 1935, in Madison County, Alabama to Joseph and Ethel (Wakefield) Andrews. She graduated from Madison County High School in 1954 and built a family in the Owens Cross Roads community.
Ms. Newman’s faith was the most cherished and important part of her life. She was a lifelong, devoted member of the Big Cove Church of Christ. She had a servant’s heart, and she found true joy and purpose in caring for others. Her boundless love extended far beyond the walls of her home and church, enriching the lives of all who knew her.
Her beloved husband of over 60 years, Robert Erle Newman, preceded her in death, as did her parents; her son, Gerald Edward Newman; her sister, Doris Andrews Newman; and her brother, Bernard Earl Andrews.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Cunningham (Les); sister, Mary Milam; brothers, James Andrews and Dale Andrews (Jan); and sister-in-law, Ann Andrews. She was much loved by her granddaughter, great-granddaughter, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the skilled nursing staff at Regency Retirement Community who diligently provided care and support during Ms. Newman’s final days.
Visitation for Ms. Newman will be held on Monday, September 23 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Berry Hill Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama. The memorial service will immediately follow at 12:00 noon with Dale Andrews officiating. The interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
