Jimmie Lou Self, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023, at home on hospice surrounded by her family. Family will receive friends Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 1: 30 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Day Cemetery in Oakman. Jerard Tidwell will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Hood; parents, Billy Joe and Ludeane Garrard; brother, Billy Wayne “Buck” Garrard; and grandparents, Vader and Della Westbrook and Joseph and Sally Garrard.
She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Creel (Alan); son, Wesley Hood (Bo); grandchildren, Austin Riley Creel (Sophia Parks), and Matthew Creel (Jordan Lay); great grandchildren, Kennedy Schulte and Lucas Creel; sister, Peggy Conway (Roger); brother, Timothy Wayne “Dab” Garrard; niece, Tanya Tidwell (Jerard); great niece, Halle Bishop; and special friend of 27 years, B.C. Kitchings; and her beloved dog Rosey. A special thanks to Gentiva and the ICU nurses at Walker Baptist Medical Center.
