Mr. Jimmie Lee Wooten, age 78, died Sunday, September 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones after an extended illness. He was born July 1, 1946 in Dennis, Mississippi, to the marital union of Nim Wooten and Nellie Mae Leathers Wooten. He was a hard worker and provided for his family as a contractor, building and remodeling residential and commercial buildings. Jimmie had a gift of working with his hands. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was married to Peggy Pate Wooten, his wife of fifty-five years.

A celebration of Jimmie’s life and home-going will be at 11 AM on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Jordan Hill Church of God of Prophecy, Highway 4 West, Dennis, MS, with his brother, Bro. Donnie Wooten officiating and Pete Wooten delivering the eulogy. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 12 noon at the Assembly of Christ Cemetery, 558 Highway 4, Dennis, MS. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, September 11, all at the church. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.

Survivors include Jimmie’s wife, Peggy Wooten of Dennis; two sons, Scotty Wooten (Lisa) and Andy Wooten (Mickie), all of Dennis; two brothers, Larry Wooten (Linda) and Donnie Wooten, all of Dennis; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, W. D. Wooten and Nathan Wooten, and sister, Ann Nunley.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Wooten, Andy Wooten, Cody Wooten, Cory Wooten, Brad Wooten and Larry Wooten. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson, Logan Wooten and a host of nephews and friends.
