Jimmie Lee "Tex" McEwen Profile Photo  Jimmie Lee “Tex” McEwen, 81, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Monday, February 17, 2025, at his residence. Earlier in his life, Tex served his country in the U.S. Navy for two years, serving on the USS Moale during that time. His biggest passion in life was building, especially Volkswagens, which earned him many trophies throughout the years. From Volkswagen Beetles to a trike and a sandrail, his passion was reflected in his excellent craftmanship. He used his talents every day in his career as a machinist. He worked with several different companies, including Wallworth Manufacturing, ORECK, and NASA. After retiring from manufacturing, he worked 8 years as a handyman with Hancock County Schools. Tex was known for his easy-going personality and great sense of humor. He loved to joke around and could find humor in any situation. He also had a great love for animals and often took in strays. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboy football and participating with the Volkswagen Club and Cruisin’ the Coast. Since moving to Iuka, he and his wife have attended church at Mt. Evergreen Church and enjoyed the services. Above all his hobbies, what Tex loved the most was his family, and he cherished every moment he got to spend with them.

Tex is survived by his beloved wife, Pat McEwen; his children, David McEwen (Karen Batting), Laurie Chaskes (Georgia Patu), Karlee Goffrier (Bill), Patricia Marion (Tim), and Tara Bunnell; his grandchildren, Michael Dean, Samantha Jordan (Ben), Skyla Bunnell, Brendon Bunnell, Josh Chaskes, Ben Chaskes, Giavanna Bunnell, Carol Feasle, Belle Burgess (Jaysek), Kita Roberts, Jada Marion, Lola Marion, and Gabrielle Carver; his great-grandchildren, Lily Noddin, Thomas Dean, J.J. Jordan, J.P. Feasle, Ava Marion, Scarlette Feasle, Auburn Burgess, Emerald Burgess, and T.J. Burgess; his daughter-in-law, Sheila Bunnell; and his cherished cats, Sleepy, Whiney, and Meany. He was preceded in death by his sons, Mike Bunnell and Ben Carver; his daughter, Tammy Bunnell; his parents, Hattie Lee and Walter Lee McEwen; and his siblings, Bill Wayne, Laura Mae, Betty Lou, and Annie Belle McEwen. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements.
