Jimmie “Jim” Eugene Mathis, 84, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Limestone Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Mathis lived in the Ardmore community for a majority of his life where he was of the Christian faith. After serving proudly in the United States Air Force, he would go on to operate and own a small engine repair business. When he wasn’t at work, Jim could be found woodworking or mowing grass for his neighbors and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Jackson Mathis and Eliza Jane Ellis Mathis, one brother, Daniel Jack Mathis, as well as three sisters: Reba Durbin, Helen Snow, and Joyce Mathis.
He is survived by one daughter, Wendy Travis, one grandchild, Josh (Lyndsey) Daigle, three great grandchildren, as well as one sister, Betty Mathis.
A Memorial Service will be held in Mr. Jim’s honor at State Line Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Ardmore, Alabama on Monday, August 19, 2024, beginning at 11:30 AM.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family.
