Jimmie H. Rhodes, 75, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, formerly of Iuka, Mississippi, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Rhodes was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Longview Heights Baptist Church for the past eleven years. He was formerly a member and Sunday School teacher at Leawood Baptist Church where he was also very active in various church activities. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber in Memphis after twenty years of employment. He had worked at Roy Rhodes Championship Calls for the last fifteen years. Jimmie was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a loving husband and father. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 15, at New Liberty Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Tom Savage, Dr. Wayne Marshall, and Bro. Ed Kennedy. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in Grissom Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers include Greg Rhodes, Roger Rhodes, Kevin Rhodes, Mike Rhodes, Nicky Cummings, Ricky Cummings, Anthony Laird, and Terry Laird. Cutshall Funeral Home of Glen, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Peggy L. Rhodes of Olive Branch, MS; two sons, Wayne Rhodes and wife, DeLynda, of Lakeland, TN, and Roy Rhodes of Olive Branch, MS; two daughters, Joyce Rhodes Corkran and husband, Charles, of Olive Branch, MS, and Teresa Rhodes Vess and husband, Johnny, of Southaven, MS; two brothers, Harold Rhodes of Bartlett, TN, and Joe Rhodes of Cordova, TN; four grandchildren, Jenifer Rhodes Hamblin of Lakeland, TN, Renee Vess Pepin of Southaven, MS, Amanda Corkran of Olive Branch, MS, and Alexandria Corkran of Olive Branch, MS, and one great-grandchild, Jonah Hamblin of Lakeland, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Rhodes; his mother, Burva Rhodes Green; and a brother, James Franklin Rhodes.
