Jimmie Edsel Umfress

Ed passed away at the age of 90 on November 9, 2024, at The Meadows in Fulton, Mississippi, after a short illness. Ed and his wife, Etta Kate were members of the Fulton church of Christ.
Ed was an only child, born on May 26, 1934, to Guy and Earline Umfress. Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, Araminta Bourland Umfress, whom he was happily married to, until she passed away at the age of 45. Ed and Araminta had one daughter, Susan Umfress Mauney. He is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband, John Mauney of Tupelo, MS, his grandchildren, Lee Mauney and wife, Deta of Denver, CO, Brittany Buchs and her husband, Nick of Atlanta, GA, and his great-grandchildren, Baylor Moon Buchs and Camryn Araminta Buchs.
He is survived by his wife, Etta Kate Morrow Umfress, his stepson, Chris Morrow and wife Nan of Collierville, TN, his grandchildren, John Marshall and wife Claire of Portland, TN, David Morrow of AR, and Marion Steckler and husband Stephen of Madison, MS, great-grandchildren Cooper Morrow, June Morrow, and Elora Stekler.
Ed began his early school years at Tilden School House in Itawamba County, MS. His working years began as a delivery boy for Stubblefield’s Grocery, where he delivered groceries on a bicycle. He then worked as an order dispatcher at Fulton Charm Step, and was the sales manager at Davis Ford for 16 years before starting his own business, Ed Umfress Motor Company.
Besides his family, Ed’s passion was cars. He was constantly on the lookout for the perfect car for his customers until a few months short of his death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 13, at Senter Funeral Home with Minister Russ Crosswhite and Doug Smith officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12, at Senter Funeral Home and will continue from 7:00 AM until service time on Wednesday, November 13.
Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Nick Buchs, David Jackson, Lee Mauney, Chris Morrow, Dwight Rikard, and Michael Spradling.
Honorary pallbearers are William Miles, Doug Smith, and Tommy Wallace.
In Lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity in memory of Ed.
