Mr. Jimmie Dallas Russell, Sr. age 72, of Linden, passed away on June 22, 2015 at Perry County Nursing Home, in Linden, Tennessee.
Jimmie was born on July 22, 1942 to Delbert Russell and Susan Adams Russell in Los Angeles, California. He served our country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army, having been stationed in France. He was a photographer and also prospecting for gold and metal detecting. He was married to Laura Russell from July 26, 1963 until she passed away in October 1974.
Jimmie was a cantankerous, grumpy old man who was set in his ways, but he was loved by – and he loved his children deeply. He loved to fish. His children remember, as an inside joke, that he loved his mustache! He also loved his kittens. Today, as ham radio operators world-wide will understand, KM6WC is a silent key.
Mr. Russell is survived by his children: Susan (Richard) May of Linden, Jimmie Russell, Jr. of Linden, Timmie Russell of Guerneville, CA, Tanitha (Jackie) Dennis of Tennessee Ridge and Jennifer (Todd) Corliss of New Hampshire; grandchildren: Laura Russell, Amber Eastep, Richard May, Jr., Jeffrey Cruz Russell, Desmond Enyeart, and Zachary Baker; great-grandson: Joseph Lee Russell, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents: Delbert and Susan Russell; wife: Laura Russell; daughter: Glenna Dorsten and great-granddaughter: Andilynn Jade.
The family will celebrate Jimmie’s life at a later date. Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.williamsfh.com.
