Jim Owens, age 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 21, 2024. Jim fought a courageous battle against cancer and Parkinson’s since 2009. The Memorial Service is 2 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Chapel at Lebanon First United Methodist Church (415 West Main Street), Lebanon TN.  The family will be receiving friends at the church on Friday from noon until the service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make Memorial Donations to the Lebanon First United Methodist Church and/or St. Jude’s.

James Stephen Owens was born in Springfield IL to Grace Reynolds and Raymond Owens. In 1964, he was the running back for the Cape Tigers in the State Championship. He met his sweetheart and love of his life, Connie Turner, in high school and they were together for two years before getting married. Jim was proud of his service to the country and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Owens is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie Owens, daughters Tara Slee Austin and Melissa Kay (Scott) Sewell, and grandchildren Mackenzie Sewell, Ty Sewell, and Ben Sewell. He is preceded in death by his parents Grace and Raymond Owens and brothers Joseph Martin and Michael Owens.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, being on the beach, driving, RVing, and football, especially the Titans. Mr. Owens and his wife were members of Lebanon First United Methodist Church.
