Jim Cecil – Obituary

Jim Cecil went to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was born November 7, 1938 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Mr. Cecil served in the Air Force and National Guard. He attended Vanderbilt and graduated MTSU with a political science degree. He taught and coached soccer at Columbia Military Academy. He worked at NARCOG delivering meals and loved the people he served. His life of grace and faith in Christ made everyone he was in contact with richer. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. He was a member of South Decatur Church of God.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Joyce; children, Dana Farris (Phillip), Greg Cecil, Kathy Blevins (Donald), Richard (Amanda) and Nathanael Clemons; grandchildren, Kyle, Will, Leah, Maggie, Gabrielle, and Kaylyn; great-grandson, Elijah; sister, Mary Virginia Williams; niece, Laurie Dudley (Steve); nephew, George Smith (Julie), of Nashville.

The family would like to express their gratitude to their many friends for prayers and acts of kindness during his illness and excellent care at Clearview Cancer Institute.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Visitation was 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.
