Jewell Faye Lacy Profile Photo Jewell Faye Lacy (Judy), a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on November 4, 2023, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital surrounded by her family.  She was born on February 19, 1934, the daughter of Willie and Lola Wallace Smith, in Gibson County, Tennessee.  Judy attended Gibson High School, where she completed the 11th grade.  Known for her loving and caring nature, Judy will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Judy was a committed follower of Christ, and her Christian faith was central to her life. Judy was an active member of New Shiloh Church, where she found solace and spiritual fulfillment through regular church attendance.

Judy worked hard throughout her life, finally retiring from Jackson Madison County General Hospital, where she worked in the billing department.  Even after retirement, Judy went back to work part-time until Alzheimer’s made it impossible to do so.

Judy’s true joy came from spending time with her family.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her titles as “Mom” and “Nanny” were her life’s greatest joy. Judy enjoyed expressing her love through cooking.  Family gatherings were always made special by Judy’s delicious meals and warm hospitality. Judy also enjoyed hunting and fishing, immersing herself in the beauty of nature.

Judy will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.  She is survived by her daughter Sandra Taylor (Danny) of Humboldt, TN and daughter-in-law Sherry Hinson of Jackson, TN ; grandchildren Amanda McNeil (Zach), Chris Hinson (Kristi), Anthony Alford (Mary), Jeremy Hinson (Rachel), and Jennifer Baker (Chris) ; as well as 7 great-grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, children David Hinson, Tony Hinson, and Patricia Ann Hinson; brother Billie Joe Smith; sisters Dorothy Ray and Linda Jarvis.

SERVICES: On November 12, 2023, friends and family will gather to honor Judy’s life at a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Milan, Tennessee.  The service will begin at 2:00 PM, providing an opportunity for loved ones to share their cherished memories of Judy.  Oak Grove cemetery is located on Oak Grove Road outside of Milan, Tennessee.

Honorary Pallbearers: Anthony Alford, Dylan Alford, Chris Baker, Chris Hinson, Jeremy Hinson, Danny Taylor.

Judy’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of experiencing her presence.  Her memory will forever be cherished, and her absence deeply felt.  May she rest in eternal peace.
