J.W. Owen, Jr. Bro. Jewel Windham “J.W.” Owen, Jr., 85, passed away at his home in Ecru.  He was born on January 10, 1939 to Jewel Windham Owen, Sr. and Juanita Wells Owen in Hurricane.  Bro. J.W. was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and faithful servant of our Lord.  Bro. J.W. pastored for 47 years in Pontotoc County, Buchanan Baptist Church, Harmony Baptist Church, Horton Memorial Baptist Church, Center Hill Baptist Church and Selah Baptist Church.  He is a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.  He also served in the National Guard from 1961-1965.  He was co-owner of Owen ATV from 1997-2018.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Services will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 2:00pm at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pontotoc.  Bro. Jewel Keith Owen, Bro. Brandon Murphree and Bro. Jerrod Cagle will officiate.  Honorary ministers are Bro. Jimmy Russell and Bro. Doug Jones.  Burial will follow in the Sand Springs Cemetery.  Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors, wife of 66 years, Linda Spears Owen; children, Marilyn Weatherly (Glenn) and Mike Owen (Gina); grandchildren, Kayla Snider (Will), Jon Weatherly, Chase Owen (Lakyn), Haylee Brannigan (Hunter) and Case Owen; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Mac Owen (Carol); and a sister, Mary Bowling.

Preceded in death by, parents, brother, Carl Whitten Owen; and a brother-in-law, Charles Bowling, Sr.

Pallbearers, Jon Weatherly, Will Snider, Hunter Brannigan, Chase Owen, Lee Rushton, Bubba Bowling, Heath Westmoreland and Richard Herdahl; Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation, Monday, July 1, 2024 from 4-8pm and from noon until service time Tuesday, July 2, 2024 all at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
