Mrs. Jewel McRight Hester, 94, of Florence, passed away Saturday Sept. 29, 2013, at Glenwood Health Care. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greenview Memorial Funeral Home with the service beginning at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Brother Ken Chapman and Brother Johnnie Richardson will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hester was born in Franklin County, Ala., and was a member of the Helton Drive Church of Christ. She was baptized in Christ at the age of 12.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Van T. Hester, father, Donald C. McRight, mother, Alice McRight Roberts, stepfather, Cecil W. Roberts, daughter, Nettie Sue Hester Ruth, son, Floyd Morgan Hester, granddaughter, Christy Bratten, one sister, five brothers, and special friend, Riley Leon Graham.
Surviving her are her daughter, Freda Hester Pauley (Jim), Brentwood, Tenn.; son, Van Hester (Becky), Russellville; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Hester, Florence; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
