Mrs. Jewel Marie Sealy, 91, died Saturday June 22, 2013, at ECM Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Sealy was born in Albertville, Al. on July 24, 1921, to her late parents, General Rado and Willie Luvert Kay Morton.
Following her marriage to P. E. Sealy in 1941, they became a part of the war effort and enlisted in the Armed Forces, she in the WAVES and he in the Seabees. After the war they made their home in Florence. Mrs. Sealy was an avid golfer, a member of Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club and a member of First Baptist Church of Florence. She enjoyed cooking and gardening but most of all being a homemaker for her family.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 63 years, P. E. Sealy. She is survived by her daughter, Judy McCaig (Ronnie), Killen, AL; sons, Jerry Sealy (Pat) and Don Sealy, all of Florence; brothers, Louie Morton, Lenoir City, TN and Raymond Morton, Decatur, AL; grandchildren, Brian Weeks, Lisa Garner (Patrick), Jill Salter (Jeremy), Todd Sealy (Flavia), Michael Sealy (Ashley), Alex Sealy and Angela Sealy; great-grandchildren, Grace and Tristan Garner and Sealy Salter; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the atrium of the First Baptist Church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am Tuesday June 25. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 amin the sanctuary with the Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating. A private burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Don Sealy, and Donald Morton. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Stevens and Dr. Rivers Lindsey, Jr.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Florence Mission Programs or the charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Hobbs and the 6th floor nurses of ECM Hospital as well as her caregivers, friends and neighbors for the love and care given to their mother.
