Jewel-Johnson-1473083694Jewel Duncan Johnson, 96, of Pulaski, TN passed away Sunday, September 4 at NHC Columbia surrounded by her family.
Jewel was born on September 22, 1919 to parents Franklin Carter Duncan and Hettie Cates Duncan. She was a life-long resident of the Bodenham Community, homemaker, retired factory worker from Lee Mar Shirt Factory and Fafnir. She was a lifetime member of Choates Creek United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, a member of the Ladies Aid, Choates Creek United Methodist Women and Bodenham Community Club.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, September 8, at 3pm at Choates Creek United Methodist Church with Reverend Ryan Heatherly, Reverend Ray McDonald and Reverend Creighton Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Choates Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 7, from 4-7 pm at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home and Thursday from 1-3pm at the church.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 74 years, Flenoy Johnson, son, Delmas Johnson, daughters, Linda Johnson Yokley and Nedra Johnson Trebing, great-grandson Britton Taylor and brother, Lucious Duncan.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Johnson Rose and husband Rudolph and son, Doran Johnson and wife Amanda, all of Pulaski; a half-brother, Terry Duncan and half-sister, Carlene Duncan Devore of Hohenwald. Grandchildren, Ritchie Rose and wife, Mary Carter Rose, David L. Kirby, Jr. of Pulaski; Sheree Rose Kelley and husband, Alton Kelley of Nashville; Jonathan Kirby and wife, Heather Kirby of Murfreesboro; Yvonda Yokley Batts and husband, Tracy Batts; Kim Yokley Spann and husband, Jody Spann of Centerville; Steven Yokley and wife, Kelly Yokley of Hilton Head, South Carolina; Beth Johnson Baker and husband, Jon Baker of Thompson Station and Candace Johnson Malone and husband, Jeramiah Malone of Lawrenceburg. Nineteen great-grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren also survive.
