Jewel Dean Gargis, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Stan Smith officiating. The burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, Booster and Mozella Johnson; parents-in-law, Reeder and Mable Gargis; great-grandchildren, Bela Terry, Bryant Terry, and four angel babies; brothers, Hillard Johnson and Rayburn Johnson; and special bonus parents, Bud and Lila Brown Gargis.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronnie Gargis; sons, Bradley Gargis and Chris Gargis (Anna); grandchildren, Lyndsie Hall (Dustin), Kiley Cole (Bradley), and Colby Reid Gargis; great-granddaughter, Myria Grace “Peanut” Hall; great-grandson due in April, Bronson Keith Cole; sisters, Peggy Smith (Melvin) and Barbara Owens; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers are David Gargis, Hart Gargis, Jackie Gargis, Matt Gargis, Mike Gargis, and Phil Gargis.
The family expresses their gratitude to the entire staff of Alabama Hospice and the Brick Hatton Volunteer Fire Department for the love, care, and compassion shown to our family.
