Jewel Cook Posey, 93, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born November 27, 1919, to John Allen and Ovie Elizabeth Roper Cook. She was a seamstress and worked in local factories until retirement. She was a member of the Mayfield Church of Christ. She enjoyed yard work, gardening, shopping, and going to auctions.
Services will be at 1 p. m. Wednesday, July 17, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Posey (Linda) of Guntown and Judon Posey (Marilyn) of Saltillo; five grandchildren, Angela Patterson (Rodney), Christy Johnson (Joe), Rodney Posey (Cherish), Tim Posey (Joanne), and Kimberly Posey; one step-grandchild, Nicky Williams; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Posey, in 2006; three brothers, Jessie Cook, Walter Cook, and Charlie Cook; five sisters, Nellie Benefield, Luna Elwell, Helen Cook, Audrey Cook, and Ruby Price; two infant sisters; and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Tim Posey, Mike Price, Randy Price, Rodney Patterson, and Joe Johnson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
