Jesse W. Embrey
June 5, 1942 ~ January 8, 2025 (age 82)

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:31

On Wednesday January 8, 2025, in the comfort of his home, Mr. Jesse W. Embrey was revealed to the glory his Lord and Savior had prepared for him, as he departed this earthly life with his sweetheart, Shelia, and two faithful canine companies by his side.

A service celebrating the well lived life of Mr. Jesse will be at 1 PM Monday January 13, 2025, at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Bro. John Mark Jarrett officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service on Monday January 13, 2025, at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow at a later date.

Born June 5, 1942, in Memphis Tennessee, Mr. Jesse was the son of the late Jesse and Elisabeth “Molly” South Embrey. He received his education from the Memphis Public School System and proudly served his country in the United State Navy from 1961 until 1963. He was employed as an EMT in the Memphis area and worked with the Tennessee Correctional Facility for a brief period, before gaining a career with the Memphis Sherriff’s department. For forty years, Mr. Jesse wore badge number 55 faithfully, being at the services of others and earning the trust of many during his time as a deputy sheriff.

A Christian who attended and worshiped the Lord at Flat Rock Baptist Church, Mr. Jesse was a quiet and easy-going man who enjoyed the simplicity of life. Favorite pastimes included riding motorcycles, shooting guns, tinkering with old cars, and although he may not admit it, loved stopping and looking at any yard sale he and Mrs. Shelia may pass. He was very patriotic and had a deep passion for Veteran’s Day, always attending the yearly program at Hickory Flat and considering it a great honor to have served. He was simple, well respected, loyal to his family, friends, and country, and until we meet again for that great reunion in heaven, Mr. Jesse will always hold a special place in our hearts that no one else could ever fill.

Those left to cherish his memories include his partner of eight years, Shelia Franklin, two sons, Paul “Tony” Anthony, and Kenneth Raymond (Virgina), six grandchildren, and a wide circle of family and friends.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jesse Embrey III, three sisters, Essie his twin, Sue and Sydney, and two stepbrothers, Carl Hopkins and Victor Owens.
