Jesse Franklin Greene, Jr., 84, of Athens, Alabama, passed away on Monday, 30 September 2024, at the Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville, Alabama.
Mr. Greene spent half of his life in Florence/Killen, where he was a member of the Killen Church of Christ. After serving in the United States Army for 20 years, he became an advocate for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). After leaving the service, he drove tour buses and became a manager at McDonald’s. In his spare time, Jesse enjoyed boating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Franklin Greene, Sr. and Mary Irene McKinney Greene; his wife, Wanda Lou Greene; a sister, Oberlean Hill; and two brothers, Earl Greene and Jerry Greene.
He is survived by a son, Jesse Franklin (Corinna) Greene III; a brother, Bobby Greene; four sisters: Peggy (Jack) Slate, Ann Brandis, Geneva Grisham, and Faye Bowers; three grandchildren, Isabella (Lukas) Fobbe-Greene, Victoria Greene, Robert Greene; and one great-grandchild, Charolette Fobbe.
A graveside service for Mr. Greene will be held at Fuller’s Chapel Cemetery on Monday, 14 October 2024, with services commencing at 12:30 pm. Brother Stan Dean will officiate. Burial will follow in Fuller’s Chapel Cemetery.
