Jesse "Florrie" Florence P.  DickensonJesse Florence “Florrie” Dickenson passed away July 9, 2019 at the age of 82 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Maj. (Ret) Glenn G. Dickenson, Jr., son, John P. Dickenson, and parents J.C. and Marie Patrick of Waynesville, NC. Survivors include daughter Dawn Dickenson Arnold (Paul) of Franklin, sisters-in-law Sue Swensson (Earl) of Franklin and Evelyn Swensson of Hockesin, Delaware and many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the U.S. Florrie earned her B.S. in Education from the University of Georgia, then Master of Arts in Education from Western Carolina Teacher’s College. During her long career, Florrie taught for the Dept. of Defense in Germany, in California public schools, and retired as a Reading Recovery Specialist for Williamson County Schools in 2010. Favorite pastimes were music, travel (beaches were favorites), reading and needlepoint. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Williamson County Schools, the Williamson County Library, or the Holston Conference Children’s Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
