Major Jesse Edward Fountain, Jr. USA, Ret., 79 of Huntsville, Alabama made his final call February 1, 2022. Jesse Edward Fountain Jr. was born in Mena, Arkansas to Neumatta Edwards and Jesse Edward Fountain, Sr. on July 8, 1942. He was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School Class in 1960, before he graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma. Jesse joined the Army as an enlisted soldier in September of 1968, before going to school to become an officer. He served in Vietnam from July 15, 1969, to February 13, 1971. He was in the 173rd Airborne Division and was a superintendent for transportation, along with being a maintenance management officer. His military career took him across the United States from Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Fort Eustis, Virginia, to Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Polk, Louisiana. During his time Jesse was stationed at Fort Sill as a motor transport officer, where he met Mary Jo Kassik. In August of 1974, he married Mary Jo Kassik. To this union, two wonderful children were born, Jesse Edward Fountain III and Rebekah Elizabeth Fountain. Jesse was a reserve police officer for Minco, Oklahoma and Madison County Sheriff’s Department. He was an avid dog lover and always took in any dog he found, always making sure they had a loving home. Jesse doted on his granddaughter Tulley Fountain, who affectionately referred to him as “Dad Dad.” As a Mason, Jesse was a member of Solar Lodge #914, Cahaba Shrine, Valley of Huntsville Ancient, as well as a member of the Scottish Rite. During Jesse’s Military Career he earned the Bronze Star Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters, an Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, an Armed Forces Reserve Medal, a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents. Those that are left to mourn him are his children, Jesse Fountain III of the home, Bekah Fountain of Lawton, Oklahoma, and granddaughter, Tulley Fountain, of the home
