ATHENS– At a recent meeting of Athens State University’s College of Arts and Sciences faculty, retired Professor Jesse Brown was presented an Alabama State Senate Resolution. The Resolution was sponsored by Senator Arthur Orr and commended Brown for outstanding professional service to Athens State University upon his retirement.
“It is absolutely fitting that Dr. Brown has been honored in this manner,” states Athens State Provost Joe Delap. “His contributions to Athens State over the past 26 years have been immeasurable. His expertise in analyzing and explaining political issues in public venues certainly served to educate the electorate and helped increase the visibility of our University.”
Brown retired from the Institution in August 2016 after 26 years of service. He served as a Professor of Political Science. He was a past Presiding Officer of the Faculty Senate and chaired numerous committees on campus.
The Resolution states that, “…throughout his career Dr. Brown has served with honor, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence; his dedication, ability, experience, and service will be greatly missed; he has earned immense respect for his tireless dedication and exceptional abilities and his record of excellence reflects immense credit upon the entire State of Alabama; he is truly deserving of special praise and recognition on this momentous occasion.”
