Mr. Jese R. Hawthorne, Jr. Jese Ray Hawthorne, Jr., 60 years old, departed this life on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Crestwood Medical Center, Huntsville, Alabama.

He was born to Mr. Jesse Ray Hawthorne, Sr. and Mrs. Percy Mae Miller on April 7, 1963, in White Sands, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his little brother, Phillip M. Hawthorne; maternal grandparents, Percy and Essie Ree Miller; paternal grandparents Jesse L. and Organ Ann Hawthorne. He confessed Christ at an early age and attended Bicentennial Chapel, Redstone Arsenal as a youth. He later attended First Missionary Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL.

Jese graduated from J. O. Johnson High School in 1981 and attained an Electrical Engineering Degree from The University of Alabama, Huntsville. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Jese was a successful business owner in Huntsville for over 30 years.  His most rewarding employment as a young man was working at the Redstone Arsenal Youth Center where he mentored boys and girls, teaching life lessons and introducing them to sports. Jese enjoyed football, basketball, hunting swimming, bowling and automobile restoration. And if you ever played a game of pool with Jese, you knew he was a pool shark, and your chances of winning were really slim.

Jese was a loving son and grandson, devoted brother, proud father, soon-to-be grandfather and true friend. He is survived by his daughter: Ja’Cieka (Johnathan) Hall of Chattanooga TN, parents: Jesse and Percy Hawthorne of Huntsville AL, brother: Gary (Pam) Hawthorne of Commerce Township MI, sister: Jacqueline Humphrey, Huntsville AL, aunts: Wanda (Willie) Richardson, Chestene Miller, Omaha NE, Marchetta (Tim) Fontaine, Huntsville AL; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories (4315 Oakwood Avenue NW, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Reverend G.W. Lindsey, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens.

The Hawthorne family will receive guests from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories.

Public viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, 8:30 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8, 2023, and 8:30 am until 12:00 noon, Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
