Graveside services for Mr. Jerry White “Coon” Jones, age 80, will be held at 1 pm Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Oakland Cemetery. All services will follow the appropriate social distancing protocols, with face masks required, as set forth by the CDC and state of Tennessee.
Coon Jones passed away February 26, 2021 after a long illness. Coon was born April 4, 1940. He attended grade school at Concord and High School at Peabody in Trenton graduating in the class 1958.
A man of many talents, Coon had many interests serving in the Tennessee National Guard. He loved trying new experiences and during his life he had many business interests including training Tennessee Walking Horses, a water well drilling business, owning restaurants and entering a few local bar-b-que contests. For many years Coon pursed his passion of golf by not only playing the sport but also inventing and marketing golf course aerators and core collectors. During his life Coon consulted with many golf courses on the management of turf.
Coon was preceded in death by his parents, Clytus Stanford and Sue Elizabeth White Jones; a brother, Phillip “Shorty” Jones; and a nephew, Kevin Jones.
Coon is survived by his former wife, Catherine Taylor; their daughters, Elaine Kehel, Priscilla Poteet and husband Doug, and Martha Hinson and husband Barry, all of Trenton, TN; two brothers, Jim Jones and wife Laverne of Marissa, IL, and Gary Lynn Jones and wife Kellie of Trenton, TN; a sister-in-law, Joyce Jones of Milan, TN; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
