Jerry Wayne West, age 78, a resident of Athens, Alabama, passed away on July 9, 2024.
Born on September 26, 1945, in Woodville, Alabama, Jerry was the son of the late John Kimsy West and the late Bessie McAllister West. Jerry was a devoted husband and father. In addition to a long career of banking and owning his own businesses, Jerry used his talents to support his church family at Bethel Church of Christ by serving as an Elder and Treasurer. Jerry also served in the U.S Army Reserve. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years: Peggy Burgess West, his children John (Jessica) West, Elizabeth (William Eric) Downing, sister: Carolyn (James) Black, grandchildren: Lily Claire and William Hudson (Liam) Downing, and Brittany Rasche and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his brothers: William Loyd, Herman, Leo, Harold, Johnny, and J.C. and sisters: Velma McAllister and Gladys Stoey Mullins
Limestone Chapel in Athens, Alabama is assisting the family with funeral arrangements at this time. A graveside service will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Athens, Alabama in August 2024, date to be announced at a later time.
