Jerry Wayne Tompkins, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the age of 69. His visitation will be Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Tim Griffin officiating. He will be buried in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Jerry was a native of Colbert County and a veteran of the National Guard. He was a retired Steamfitter with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 760 and a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was very proud of his grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Dianna H. Tompkins; parents, William Preston and Methel Louise Tompkins; and brothers, Lloyd Wesley Tompkins and Kenneth Tompkins.
His survivors include his sons, Mark Wayne Tompkins (Hollie) and Jeremy Heath Tompkins; brothers, William P. Tompkins, Jr. and Charles K. Tompkins; sisters, Sheila Taylor and Brenda Goodwin; grandchildren, Dianna Marie Tompkins, Winter Grace Tompkins, Destiny Heather Tompkins, Marlie Tompkins, and Baylie Tompkins; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Heath Tompkins.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Askew, Brooks Johnson, and Steve Goodwin.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
