Jerry Wayne Majors, age 75 of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Mebane, North Carolina on July 30, 1949, to the late Frank Edward and Daphany (Holmes) Majors. Jerry was a lifelong nurseryman, having worked at Shadow Nursery, with his son, and with many others. An avid sportsman, he had coached Little League in Winchester, and enjoyed cheering for the New York Yankees, Tennessee Volunteers, and Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed a good day fishing. He will be remembered for his love of anything Elvis and of hulling pecans. But most of all, his family will cherish the memory of wonderful times together and his caring nature. Jerry was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Majors Jr; grandson, Joshua Vanzant; and aunts and uncles, Essie Mae and Ernest “Mutt” Majors. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Debra Majors; daughter, Tina Majors (Timothy) Biddle; grandchildren, Jessika Vanzant, Tyler Blake Majors, Timothy Yates, and Ashley Taylor; great-grandchildren, Joshlyn, Ashlyn, Brylee, Milo, and Mileena; daughter-in-law, Sheila Yates; brother, Frank Edward Majors Jr; several brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and four-legged best friend, Reese. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Garner Cemetery.
