Jerry Wayne Evans, age 76 of Winchester, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on November 18, 1947, in Tullahoma, to Johnnie Mae (Riddle) Evans and the late Horton Reagan Evans. He started working with TVA at the age of eighteen, and later became a well-known carpenter in Franklin County. He retired after eighteen years of service with Franklin County Board of Education in the Maintenance Dept. Jerry enjoyed being outdoors and playing his guitar. His passion for sports led him to coach middle school, high school and travel teams for girls’ softball in both Tullahoma and Franklin County. He also, coached Little League Baseball and Babe Ruth for a number of years. Jerry was an avid University of Tennessee sports fan and devoted member of Decherd Nazarene Church. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a sweet compassionate person with a great since of humor. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Gail Brown. Jerry is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Charlotte Evans; mother, Johnnie Mae Evans; children, Misty (Denny) Edde, Jason (Kelly) Evans, Casey Cooper-Evans, Andy (Stacy) Carter and Matt Carter; grandchildren, Madalyn Edde, Jessica Edde, Brooklyn Evans, Sophie Evans, Emma Evans, Kobe Evans, Chase Corn, Jayden Cooper, Aahna Carter, Syndey Carter, Presley Carter, Lily Carter, Evalyn Carter and Ella Charlotte Carter; six great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Jo) Evans; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Ron McCormick officiating. Interment will follow in New Center Grove Cemetery with Kobe Evans, Chase Corn, Jayden Cooper, Keith Riddle, John Moore and Logan Buckner all serving as pallbearers.
