Jerry Wayne Stancil  Jerry W. Stancil, age 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2024. He was born August 7, 1943 to Guy Stancil and Dessa Cook Stancil. He married Judy Hargett Stancil and had three children. Following Judy’s passing after almost forty years of marriage, he remarried Sandra Skidmore Stancil and they shared twenty-one years together before his death.

He owned and operated Jerry’s Drywall for more than forty years before retiring to spend time with his friends, family, going on wagon rides and hunting; just a few of his favorite things. During his years of working he trained and employed numerous members of his commenting the art of drywall hanging and finishing.

Jerry truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with his brothers, friends and family. He enjoying visiting the Amish community in Tennessee. A trip to the Amish community usually led to Jerry’s return home with new halters for he beloved (but, sometimes ornery mules), handmade goods such as blankets, jams, jellies and other baked goods, fresh fruits and vegetables and the occasional wagon he could show off during his famous mule rides. He often made this trip with his two brothers, Ervin and Jimmy and his family can only imagine what these three brothers talked and laughed about while they were together. Jerry also loved nothing better than pulling a prank on those unaware and teasing and laughing with those around him.

He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, parents, Guy and Dessa, his first wife, Judy, an infant daughter; Melissa Carol and granddaughter Isabella Wilson.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra Stancil, of twenty-one years, his two older brothers Ervin (Annette) and Jimmy (Carolyn).

Jerry is also survived by his three children; Jason (Carey), Misty (Vinnie) and Jeremy (Nicole), three step-children; Billy (BJ), Rebecca and John, his twelve grandchildren; Jake, Ethan, Brett (Jordan), Austin (Sabrina), Justin, Brylee, Tristin (Breanna), Abbey, Alex, Damien and Haley and three great-grandchildren; darling, mischievous and loving great-granddaughter Saylor Grace, great grandson, Michael Nolan who loves spending time with his Mimi, anything little boys love and books and Everley who is a girlie girl with a love for Disney’s Frozen, princess costumes and new high heels to show off to her dad and mom. He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and those he made laugh or smile on any given day.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville, AL from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to reminisce, grieve, support each other during this time and, of course, just chat. Family visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A funeral service for him will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral processional will follow the leading to Liberty Hill Cemetery where he will be welcomed by generations of loving family members.

His family would like to thank Spry Memorial Chapel for their kindness and compassion. They truly took care of Jerry’s family in their time of grief. A special thanks goes out to Southern Care, their caregivers and nurses for the comfort they showed Jerry during his last days.
