Mr. Jerry Thomas “Tommy” Patterson, age 74, passed away on July 30, 2024 in Jackson. He was born September 16, 1949 in Henderson County to the late Clyde Edward and Mary Jernice Pendergrass Patterson. Mr. Patterson was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ and retired after over 30 years as a 4-H and Agriculture Extension Agent for the University of Tennessee starting in Madison County for a couple of years before transferring to Chester County for the remainder of his career.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Mrs. Janice Yates Patterson and one brother, Jeffery Patterson.
Survivors include his son, Jared Patterson; two daughters, Jerri Lynn Sims (Robby) and Jaclyn Burleson; two brothers, Jimmy Patterson (Connie) and Joel Patterson; four sisters, Judy Melton, Janice Jones (Gary), Joy Thomason (Bud), and Jan Page (Bill); three grandchildren, Lena, Lila, and Lona Sims; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Unity Cemetery in Jacks Creek. The family will receive friends at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington on Saturday, 5 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Broad Street Church of Christ Food Pantry.
