Jerry Thomas Grimmett Mr. Jerry Thomas Grimmett, age 68, husband of Patsy Grimmett, and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

 

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, with Allen Lancaster officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

A native son of Maury County, Tennessee, Jerry was born on December 17, 1954, and was the son of the late Lewis Lee Grimmett and the late Mattie Lou Ingrum Grimmett. He was a 1973 graduate of Hampshire Unit School and married Patsy Pope on March 28, 1975.

 

He spent numerous years at Columbia Rock in Columbia before transitioning to Vulcan Material in Franklin, where he devoted an impressive thirty-seven years to his career. His deep affection for his grandson, Peyton, knew no bounds, as Peyton was the light of his life and source of immense pride and joy. Together, they cherished memories hunting and fishing. Jerry was renowned for his infectious sense of humor, constantly brightening the lives of those around him with his jokes and playful spirit. A dedicated and diligent worker, he loved his job and his coworkers.

 

Jerry leaves behind his wife, Patsy Grimmett, his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Shane) Willoughby of Columbia, TN, his brothers, Wayne (Teresa) Grimmett of Centerville, TN, Jan (Ricky) Sims of Williamsport, and his beloved grandson, Peyton Willoughby. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sandra (Joe) Gilbert, brother-in-law, Terry Pope, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Pallbearers will be Robert “BJ” Wilsford, Allen “Cajun” Childress, Jeremy “Hollywood” Menigham, Brent “Cadillac” Johnson, Tim Sanders, and Andy “Little Andy” Sanders. The employees of Vulcan Material will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

The family kindly requests memorial donations be made in Jerry’s memory to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
