Reverend Jerry Tyrone Johnson, Sr. On August 19, 2024, God called one of His beloved sons home to eternal peace.

Jerry T. Johnson, Sr. was born on February 3, 1943 in Tuscumbia, Alabama to the late Walter Johnson, and Mrs. Earline West. Jerry was a graduate of Trenholm High School and received an Associates Degree from Drake State College. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 8 years.

He worked 32 years at Dunlop Tire & Rubber company until his retirement in 2005. Jerry was devoted to the Lord and during his retirement enjoyed hosting Bible Study in his home and outreach nursing home ministry.

He was a firm believer, walked strongly in his faith, and for several years was the Pastor of Life Changing Ministries. He later became a faithful member of Cornerstone Church and was a committed member of the Mighty Mens Fellowship until his death. His quiet demeanor was complemented by his infectious laugh and deep wisdom, making him a true example of unwavering strength and kindness.

Jerry was married over 53 years to the love of his life, Mrs. Patricia Johnson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Kodey Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memories two sons: Jerry T. Johnson, Jr., Miami, FL, and Jonathan (Brittany) B. Johnson, Harvest, AL; and daughter: Michelda K. Johnson, Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Jessica M. Johnson, Atlanta, GA; Erica M. Johnson, Los Angeles, CA; Joshua Johnson, Dallas, TX; and Cayden Tucker, Longview, Texas; Kobey Clark, Harvest, Alabama; and one great-grandchild, Ariana Marie Johnson. He is survived by his loving sister, Mrs. Anita Barrymore, Detroit, Michigan; three sisters in law, Doris Conerly, Athens, AL; Glenda (Billy) Elmore, Huntsville, AL; and Janice Summerhill (Melvin), Harvest, AL; and one brother-in-law Edward Earl Morton, Jr. of Riverside, CA; and leaves a host of many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends who will also treasure his memory.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Cornerstone Word of Life Church (3783 Sullivan St, Madison, AL 35758) with Pastor Mark Garver officiating. Interment will be Thursday, August 29th, at 12:30 p.m., in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. Reverend Johnson will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
