Funeral service for Jerry Sharp, 83, will be Monday, October 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM at New Center Baptist Church with Bro. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in New Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 21, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at New Center Baptist Church.
Mr. Sharp passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at his residence. He was born September 25, 1941, in Morgan County, to Bernam Loyd Sharp and I.B. Floyd Sharp.
He was employed by the Decatur Police Department, then went to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, where he retired. He was a member and a Deacon of the New Center Baptist Church. He also was a Veteran of the United States Army. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Charles Sharp and a sister; Helen Vaughn.
Survivors include:
Wife – Patsy Blankenship Sharp
Son – Jonathan McKinley Sharp (Lisa)
Grandchildren –
Hunter Sharp (Danni), Kendall Sharp,
Katie Sharp, Holden Sharp, and Brinley Sharp.
Great Grandchild – Luna Sharp
Pallbearers will be Hunter Sharp, Jon Sharp, Robert Hopper, Tyler Stinson, Cole Brown, and Tommy Adcock.
