Jerry was born to the late James Dalton and Zelphia Almeta Jones of McNairy County. He was
a graduate of Selmer High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with an
honorable discharge in 1967, married in 1968, accepted Christ in 1975, father of three, and a
successful farmer. As the owner operator of Jones Farms, he was awarded the “Outstanding
Young Farmer Award” in 1981 and served multiple terms on the Board of Directors of the local
co-op. He retired from farming in 2006.
Jerry Noel “JayBird” Jones, 77 years old, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

After retirement he enjoyed gardening, gospel and
bluegrass music, spending time with family, camping, riding his GoldWing motorcycle, going to
old car and tractor shows, restoring an old ‘66 Ford Galaxie 500, fishing, and puzzles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Donald, James Dalton, and Charles)
and three sisters (Louise, Nancy, and Betty Sue).

Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda, of 55 years, his three children, Amy (and husband Kevin),
Joy (and husband Bryan Jr), Clay (and wife Alecia), six grandchildren, one sister, Maria Volner,
and many nieces and nephews.
