Jerry Newman Profile PhotoJerry Newman, a beloved member of the Jackson community, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 84.

He was one of two children to the late Fred and Della Newman.  Born on February 26, 1940, in Jackson, TN, he spent his entire life in this vibrant city, leaving behind a legacy filled with laughter, kindness, and a spirit of adventure.  Jerry was known to many as the owner and operator of Security Doors, where he was self-employed and dedicated himself to providing quality service to his customers. His work was a reflection of his commitment to excellence, and he took great pride in being part of the fabric of the local economy.

Those who knew Jerry would describe him as a happy man with a light-hearted demeanor. He had a special knack for bringing joy to gatherings with family and friends, often filling their lives with laughter and warmth through his playful joking and infectious spirit. His ability to connect with people made him an unforgettable personality in the lives of those around him.

An avid sportsman, Jerry found great pleasure in the great outdoors. He cherished opportunities to hunt and fish, pursuing many kinds of game, including coons, deer, and rabbits. The memories of these adventures, often recounted with a twinkle in his eye, showcased his love for nature and the thrill of the hunt.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Judy Norwood Newman; children, Randy Newman, Walter Bedwell, and Stacy Lagrone (Mike); grandchildren, Ashley Coulter, Hunter Newman, Brandon Newman, Matthew Huff, Jordan Biter, and Jacob Bedwell; great-grandchildren, Presley Coulter, Kalee Coulter, Braden Newman, Carter Newman, Hadley Newman, Reece Newman, Lexington Huff, Lincoln Huff, and J.J. Biter.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael G. Newman; grandson, Justin Michael; and sister, Brenda Newman Coleman.

There will be a celebration of life gathering for family and friends to be scheduled at a later date.

He leaves behind a community that mourns the loss of his presence but also celebrates the remarkable life he led. Jerry Newman will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of laughter and love will endure in the stories shared by family and friends.
