Jerry Lynn Morris, 71, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Golden, MS and worked as a truck driver for Sunshine Dog Food and Wal-Mart until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had previously served as Sunday School director for many years. He enjoyed driving the church van and helping in any way with Vacation Bible School. He was very honored to attend and experience the Emmaus Walk #93.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 1, 4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Hill, Bro. Chris Higginbottom and Bro. Barry Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Morris; four daughters, Jennifer Higginbottom (Jason), Catina Newman (Jon), Carrie Fowler (Ronnie) and Jessica Morris; five grandchildren, Jeremy Higginbottom (Hoguean), Chandler Higginbottom (Nicole), Caylie Ginn (Tanner), Bryce Jackson (Fiancé’ Ashlyn) and Connor Hinton; five great-grandchildren, Darbi, Austyn, McKinley and Hudson Higginbottom and Camdyn Ginn; his mother, Dorothy Grimes and aunts, Wilma Renfroe and Ann Ledbetter.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mitchell Morris; grandmother, Eva Morris; uncle, Freddie Morris and aunt, Jolene Bartkavich.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Higginbottom, Chandler Higginbottom, Tanner Ginn, Bryce Jackson, Connor Hinton, Anthony Ledbetter and Greg Ledbetter. Honorary pallbearers will be the Christian Motorcycle Association, Jeff Ledbetter, Darrin Caldwell, Mark Shepard and Craig Edwards.
Visitation will be Monday, July 1, 2-4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.
