Jerry Lee Edward Decanter, 60, has run his last load of dirt and gone on to greener pastures. A hardworking man, Jerry passed away Friday March 10, 2023, at the Tippah County Hospital.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Jerry will be 2 PM, Wednesday March 15, 2023, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton and Bro. Gary Decanter officiating. Burial will follow in Little Hope Cemetery in Tippah County.
Jerry was born July 1, 1962, in Tippah County to the late Leland and Ruth Joy Falkner Decanter and received his education from Ripley High School. A man never scared of work; he was a valued trucker all of his life. Jerry was employed with Rowell and Company, where he hauled many loads of dirt, traveled various miles, and never missed the opportunity to help not only his boss but his buddy, Craig Rowell anyway he could.
Jerry had a “need for speed” and enjoyed riding his four-wheelers fast, telling jokes any chance he got, and sharing time with those he loved most. Strong willed and always full of his self, he was best known for his outspoken personality, high spirited way of life, and tendency for shaking a little ice with his friends and family. A family man and true friend, we were blessed to have shared 60 years with Jerry and will always be inspired by his easy-going spirit, willingness to help others and friendship.
Visitation will be 10 am until 2 pm Wednesday March 15, 2023, at Ripley Funeral Home.
Those left to cherish his memories include one son, Jonathan Decanter, two sisters, Janice Wilbanks (Wayne), and Nancy Britt (Doug), one brother, Robert Decanter, and five grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Decanter, and a nephew, Andy Britt.
Those serving as pallbearers include, Ryan Miskelly, Donnie Spencer, Tyler Orman, Brad Brooks, Craig Rowell, and Stacy Givens, and honorary pallbearers include, Rowell and Company, and Zane Decanter.
