Jerry “Hoppie” Lee Gargis, age 72, of Muscle Shoals, passed away July 1, 2024. Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2024, at Williams Funeral Home of Florence from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. The funeral will start at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Brad Sharp officiating and David Phillips’ music. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery – Lexington.
Serving as pallbearers are Martie Jones, Steve Phillips, David Phillips, Tony Brown, Cole Thornton and Chris Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be DeWight Thornton and Richard Thornton.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Frank Gargis and mother, Pauline Matlock Gargis.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Ann Gargis; daughter, Tisha Latonya Gargis; and brother, John Gargis (Dorothy).
Jerry was also known as “Hoppie” to those close to him. He loved to fish, hunt, and listen to gospel music. He enjoyed playing video games and was a big Alabama fan.
