  Jerry Walters Profile PhotoJerry Gale Walters, 66, passed away on July 3, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Jerry was born on January 8, 1958 in Aberdeen, MS to Fowler McCoy and Olga Coleman Walters. He graduated from Hatley High School in 1977. He married the former Gloria “Sissy” Moore on October 13, 1979. Jerry spent many years working at True Temper. After retiring from True Temper, he opened a gas station in Becker. Jerry was also skilled in construction and woodwork. In recent years, he used wood from the riverbank in the reconstruction of his home.

Jerry spent his entire life on the land that he so affectionately loved. If you couldn’t find Jerry, you could bet he would be somewhere on the Buttahatchie River that ran through his land. He spent many days and nights at the “swimming hole” where he may be fishing, swimming, cooking, or just hanging out. Jerry was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved his life in the country.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Coy Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Lewis Easter Cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, Olga Walters of Greenwood Springs, two sons, Adam Walters of Amory, and Drew Walters (Jessica) of Bigbee; one grandson, Brayden Walters of Bigbee; three granddaughters, Lexi Walters of Tupelo, Libby Walters and Addison Walters of Bigbee; six brothers, Coy Walters (Susan) of Texas, JD Walters (JoAnn) of Greenwood Springs, Tim Walters (Sandra) of Smithville, Terry Walters (Vicki) of Greenwood Springs, Larry Walters (Kelly) of Arkansas, Claude Walters (Kimberly) of Greenwood Springs; three sisters, Claudette Taylor (Steve) of Becker, Renee Smith (Daine) of Greenwood Springs, JJ Walters of Bay St. Louis; a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Judy Hatcher.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Fowler McCoy Walters; wife, Gloria “Sissy” Walters; brother, Linnie Walters; nephew, Daniel Taylor

Pallbearers will be Nick Waldrop, Brayden Walters, Jake Walters, Neal Walters, Kirk Walters, and Dusty Rollison.

Visitation will be on Saturday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
