Jerry Dawson Profile Photo Jerry Dawson entered his heavenly home on Friday, January 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family at the age of 82.

Jerry was born on September 25, 1941, in Sudan, TX, the son of the late James Ulrich and Raneta Terrell Dawson.  He grew up on a farm near Muleshoe, TX where he attended school.  After receiving a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Wayland Baptist College, Jerry embarked on a career that spanned over forty years, mostly as the Manager of Budgets and Estimating with the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. His commitment to excellence and meticulous attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.

After moving to Jackson, Jerry became involved in his community. He served as a deacon with the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church and was actively engaged in various church activities. He lived out his faith through acts of kindness and compassion towards others.

Outside of work and his involvement with the church, Jerry had a variety of hobbies and interests. He was a member of the West Tennessee Woodturners Association, where he honed his skills as a woodworker. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, immersing himself in literature, and indulging in western TV shows.

Jerry’s greatest joy in life was his family. He shared a deep bond with his wife, Linda Dawson of Jackson, TN throughout their 61 years together. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories. Jerry is also survived by his beloved sons, Bryan Dawson (Martha) of Jackson, TN and Jerry “Rick” Ulrick Dawson (Brenda) of Bloomington, IN.

His legacy extends to his grandchildren: Matthew Dawson (Alejandra), Patricia Dawson, Tiffany Dawson, Emily Klaassen (Seth), James Dawson; as well as his great-grandchild Gary Klaassen. Jerry was a pillar of strength and guidance to his family, providing unwavering love and support.

SERVICES:  A funeral service to honor Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Baine officiating.  The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, beginning at 12:00 p.m. and continuing until the service time at 2:00 p.m.

Jerry Dawson was a remarkable individual whose impact on the lives of those around him cannot be overstated. His dedication to his family, his church, and his work will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
