Jerry Courtney Gray, 84, of Athens, AL, passed away on October 26th, 2023, at Limestone Nursing and Rehab. He was born on March 23rd, 1939, in Clanton, AL, to Kermit and Emmette Gray.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife Nina Gray; daughter Kim Muery (David); step-daughter Jenny Usery (Stanley); grandsons Stan Usery, Jr. (Kayla), Clay Usery (Kari), and Parker Muery (Addison); granddaughter Elise Muery; great-grandchildren Jessa Usery, Kate Usery, Caroline Usery, Sullivan Usery; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Emmette Gray; and brother James Gray.
Funeral will be Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Tony Wales officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 30, from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Stan Usery, Clay Usery, Parker Muery, Jeff Davis, Jessa Usery, and Elise Muery. Burial will be at Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gray was an electrical engineer and graduated from The University of Alabama in 1963. He was in civil service for the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1993 on Redstone Arsenal. He worked on government contracts of missiles projects.
Mr. Gray was a long-time member of Elkton Road Baptist Church. He was married to Nina for forty-three years. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them. He loved grouse hunting in Minnesota, fishing in Canada, and Alabama football. Jerry was an avid collector. For the last three years he was at the nursing home, Limestone Health Facility. They loved him and took care of him, and we would like to thank all the nurses, and Aimee at Southern Care New Beacon Hospice.
